Sedina Boat Trip

Sail on the schooner “Sedina” passing the old Whaling station at Sturmvogelbucht and on into Shearwater and Guano Bay. This route is extremely history and mammal rich. Our main objective is to encounter the Heaviside Dolphin endemic to this area. We also visit the colony of Jackass Penguins at their sanctuary on Halifax Island. We have a lovely passing view of the lighthouse, Diaz Cross and a colony of Cape Fur Seals.

Tours daily at 08h00 (weather permitting!). Minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 20. Tours depart from Lüderitz harbour. Book at Atlantic Adventure Tours +264-63-204030 or email: sedina@iafrica.com.na

The Felsenkirche

The Lutheran Church is open Monday to Sunday at 17h00 and at 16h00 in wintertime.

Probably the most beautiful church in the country. The visitor gets to see unique stained glass windows. The most prominent window behind the altar was donated by Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany.

Information can be obtained from the curator at the door.

Peninsula Drives:

The Lüderitz peninsula is perfect for a days’ outing. The road is signposted throughout and it is not permitted to leave the road.

Visit Diaz Point where Bartholomeo Dias erected a cross in 1488 or the old whaling station at Sturmvogelbucht. Grossebucht is ideal for crayfishing from November to April.

Be sure to get a permit from the ministry of Sea Fisheries on Shark Island.

Lüderitz Museum

Open Monday to Friday from 15h30 to 17h00. It offers the visitor displays of ethnic habitat, succulent plant life of the area, various stone, egg and shell collections. It also offers information about the diamond history of yesteryear up to date. An entrance fee may be charged.

Lüderitz Waterfront

Visit the newly opened Waterfront area in Lüderitz. Enjoy a cup of coffee with a view across the harbour, or stroll through the shopping mall.

Goerke Haus

A mansion built with “diamond” money. This art-noveau house was built by Mr Hans Goerke, manager of a diamond company.

It is one of Lüderitz’ most spectacular houses and well worth a visit.

Guided tours are offered from:

Monday to Friday between 14h00 and 16h00 and on Saturday and Sunday between 16h00 and 17h00. Closed on Public Holidays.
